A Photography You Like

Imagen
(Población La Victoria, 2015) I took this photography in 2015. That year I finished high school and found out that I had entered the University of Chile. The photo shows the hood of La Victoria on a cloudy day, Carlos Marx street appears and some shoes are hanging from the electric cables. The shoes represent divisions of gangs that operate in the neighborhood, the neighborhood where I was born and raised.   When I was little I always saw this act of hanging shoes on television, I did not understand why, but then I realized the different problems that those of us who live in this type of neighborhood experience.  And I am not referring to crime, but to the great social difference that exists in our country, where those who have money live in peace and security and those who have little have to face these types of events on a daily basis. But my neighborhood is beautiful, because of its people and the solidarity that we have and all that we have resisted throug...

My Favorite Piece of Technology

Imagen
My favorite piece of technology is the Computer. The computer is an electronic machine that allows you to perform different tasks and calculations. It also allows you to play video games and write papers. The first computer I used was when I was 8 years old, it belonged to my mother and my aunt. After that, the first computer of my own that I had was at 12 years old, the government gave it to me for my good grades in school. Currently I have one that my grandmother gave me and I use it to do college work and write role-playing stories. The computer is part of my daily life, especially now in a pandemic, due to the long periods I spend studying. I feel that it is useful and necessary and I like it because I can do different things in it and it helps me organize my homework. Because of this, I feel that a life without it would be more complex, I would have to write by hand and look for information in libraries, I don't think it's a bad t...

Why did you choose this career/study programme?

Hello again!, in this blog i'm going to talk about my choice of study Social Work.  As a child I always wanted to be an archaeologist and travel the world, then I wanted to study philosophy or history, but none of this convinced me. I felt like I would be sitting at a desk all my life reading and writing. And that's fine, but it wasn't for me. While I was growing up I vegan to see all the injustices that existed in Chile. What happened in my commune, with the most humild and hard working people- I began to see the injustice in education, in health, what companies did to the earth and water. And I started to realize that I wanted to do something about it. My grandmother was a Social Worker and seeing her example and everything she did for the community, I realized that I wanted to be like her. I wanted to study something that would give me the theorical and practical tools to better understand society and be ablet to help. Beacause of this, is why I decided to study social w...

Hello! my name is Vicente Sepulveda and I was born in Santiago, Chile specifically in the commune of Pedro Aguirre Cerda, the place of my loves. When I was a child I studied in a downtown school, called San Lazaro de Lasalle, here I learned to read very fast, which has helped me to this day. Then, when I was 12 years old, I started to study at Instituto Nacional de Chile, a gigantic school near La Moneda. I spent all my secondary education here, where I met many people and learned a lot. Philosophy, history and the social began to interest me. In 2014 I stopped eating meat completely. it was difficult at first, but to this day I am still vegan. In 2015 I finished my secondary studies and in 2016 I entered the University of Chile. I am currently 22 years old and I am a Social Work student in my fourth year. Go Vegan! - Resistance for La Victoria and freedom to the prisoners for the revolt. La Victoria, my home. Animal Liberation,
